ComponentOne Releases XapOptimizer Utility
Reduces file size, improves security
ComponentOne has released XapOptimizer, a stand-alone utility that reduces the size of XAP files by removing unused classes and XAML resources. This reduces the size of Silverlight RIA applications, thereby improving download time and consumption of network resources, as well as securing the code.
"ComponentOne XapOptimizer is the ultimate tool for any serious Silverlight developer," said ComponentOne's Chris Meredith. "The size of a Silverlight application may be reduced by up to 70% without any loss in functionality." According to Meredith, XapOptimizer will benefit any Silverlight developer, regardless of whether they use third-party controls or the in-the-box controls that come packaged with Silverlight. It may be added to the build process; therefore, optimization and obfuscation will take place automatically with each new build.
