Project Zero Simplifies RESTful Web App Development
IBM has release Project Zero, a web application framework optimized for "radical simplicity."
IBM has released Project Zero, a web application framework optimized for "radical simplicity." Project Zero is development framework and Java-based runtime for building and running dynamic web apps using REST-style web services. Project Zero apps can developed and run from a command line interface or using an Eclipse plugin. The Zero runtime supports Groovy as a default scripting language. A PHP extension module is also available for scripting in PHP. Each Zero runtime hosts a single application and loads the minimum components needed for the application.
Project Zero has been an incubator project led by Jerry Cuomo, Jason R McGee, and Marc-Thomas Schmidt. The team is now opening up development to the public as a "Community-Driven Commercial Development" (CD/CD) project. Full documentation of the core concepts of the Zero architecture and its dev tools is available in the Project Zero Core Developer's Guide. The project web site also includes Getting Started tutorials for both the CLI and the Eclipse plugin.
