The Internet2 project, a national testbed for IPv6 applications and infrastructure, has detailed its plan for a Hybrid Optical and Packet Infrastructure (HOPI) network.
The International Resource Management Application (IRMA) project, spearheaded by the Linux vendor Linspire, is a volunteer-based effort to translate popular open source applications into 78 different languages.
The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) has named Samba creator Andrew Tridgell its second Fellow. Like OSDL's first Fellow, Linus Torvalds, Tridgell will receive funding for his work as well as the benefit of OSDL legal counsel.
