BlueGene Blazes On
IBM's supercomputer-in-progress, BlueGene/L, has eclipsed its own performance record. The system—which is now about half assembled at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory—was already ranked the fastest in the world. Now results published by the Energy Department indicate that BlueGene/L has almost doubled in speed, to 135.3 teraflops. The supercomputer will undoubtedly be faster still when it is completed, some time in June or July.

Intel, SAP Offer "Direct Integration" for RFID
"SAP AG and Intel have teamed up to develop a method of introducing RFID data directly into backend systems. Introduced Thursday at the CeBIT show, the method still leaves open the RFID implementation method of using device-management partners."
