Accusoft Pegasus Updates Compression SDKsIncludes enhancements for Solaris x86 Platform, JPEG 2000 Enhancements, and multicore platforms
Accusoft Pegasus has announced updates to the PICTools SDKs that provide C libraries for image compression, decompression, and image editing. PICTools is now available on the Solaris x86 platform for both 32-bit and 64-bit application development. The PICTools SDKs are also optimized for Windows, Linux, Solaris SPARC, Mac OS X, and IBM AIX.
According to Accusoft Pegasus, speed tests are showing a 10-30% increase in JPEG 2000 multicore compression/decompression. This speedup features lighter threads, provides better synchronization, and offers more efficiency. This release also improves support for gigapixel JPEG 2000 images and enhances metadata support within all JPEG 2000 compressor and decompressor operations.
The Camera RAW libraries are updated and the Gamma correction code is improved in the PICTools Photo SDK. Another addition includes enhanced IPTC metadata support for the TIFF, JPEG, and JPEG 2000 formats. New grayscale and color document image cleanup features are introduced in the PICTools Document SDK, such as automatic color detection, automatic binarization, color drop, and more. Implementation of these features improves the results of scanned images, reduces file sizes, and prepares images for further processing such as OCR.
