Microsoft's XBox has been a popular platform for warranty-voiding mods that users have created to run unauthorized games.
XBOX hackers will soon have a chance to go legit with XNA Game Studio Express, an XBOX IDE that Microsoft is releasing in beta on August 30.
XNA Game Studio is a variation on Visual C# Express 200, and includes the XNA Framework, a modified version of the .NET Framework optimized for gaming on Windows and Xbox 360. The package will also contain docs and starter kits to get you up to speed. The "pro-level" XNA toolset, Game Studio Professional, is slated for spring 2007-ish.
