Free Books; Ah...Make that a 'Few' Free Books

The last time I heard from Denise Penrose was when she submitted to Dr. Dobb's an article entitled Implementing Bicubic Splines--in Lisp, no less. And I'm sure she agrees that was a while ago. Since then, Denise has moved on, hanging her shingle these days at Elsevier books where she is publisher.

What this has to do with you is that when she recently called, I was able to talk her out of five books that I'm going to give to the first five people who send to ddj.photos@gmail.com their photo holding a copy of Dr. Dobb's Journal. We'll then include these photos in Dr. Dobb's Wide World of Programmers photo album. And if you're not in the top five, you still get a t-shirt. So send your photo, a brief bio, and your postal address so that we know where to send your book or t-shirt to. (Offer good only to "new" folks.)

Of course, all of these books--and lots more--are part of Denise's Fall Computer Book Sale where she's marked down 50% bushels of really good computer books. Denise's sale only lasts until the end of the month.

Since we're talking about computer books, don't miss Michael Swaine's examination of the topic in Computer Books: Reading Between the Lines. And in one of those "it's a small world" moments, it's noteworthy that Denise was Michael's editor when he wrote his classic book Fire In the Valley.
