On the Road (Well, Airplane) Again

By the time you read this I'll be following orders. You see, the boss told me I was hanging around the office too much and it was time to get on the road again. When I pointed out that (a) we only have distributed virtual offices at Dr. Dobb's these days and I wouldn't bother going into them if I could, and (b) I don't drive on "roads" unless its on a scooter, so did she mean "airplane" instead?...well, like I said, I'm on the road again, leaving the office behind me.
It was just a couple of weeks ago that I was in Boston at SD Best Practices 2007. Now I'm on my way to the Symbian Smartphone Show in London. To be truthful, I'm looking forward to this trip because (a) I speak the language -- sort of anyway, (b) mobile phone stuff is very interesting, and (c) I've discovered that I get along better with the boss if there is an ocean and international border between us. My plans are to update you next week on some of what I see and hear next week. That's the plan anyway.
So then it's home for a couple of weeks before heading off to Beijing, China to Dr. Dobb's/CSDN Software Development 2.0 conference. Now this should be really interesting, what with a raft of excellent speakers, including the likes of James Reinders, Ivar Jacobson, and Nick Plante, among others. In putting this event together, I've been lucky to be working with CSDN's Jiang Tao, who has been a creative and dynamic force in making this event a reality. I was fortunate to meet with Jiang Tao at SD West last spring in California, and I'm looking forward to spending more time with him in Beijing. And, of course, I'll keep you posted on those goings-on too.
After Beijing, its off to Seattle. Why? I'm not quite sure, but the boss said its either Seattle or spending some quality time in a real office with upper management. Oh well, Seattle has great coffee....
