Sun's Seductive CEO
Over lunch at Togos, Sun Microsystems' best-known blogger, CEO Jonathan Schwartz, totally seduced Microsoft's best-known blogger, Robert Scoble.
What was it that won the Scobleizer over? Was it the fact that Sun will let the thousands of people it is laying off continue to blog on Sun's dime?
Was it the fact that Schwartz talked knowledgably and enthusiastically about blogs, Wikis, MySpace, podcasting, and videoblogging? That Schwartz is a big proponent of working at home rather than in a cubicle or office? (Hmmm, I'm sensing a strange attraction to the guy myself.)
I hope it was the emphasis Shwartz is placing on energy efficiency. And I hope Sun's marketing people are reading their CEO's blog.
I just hope it wasn't the fact that "He was... someone I could see drinking a lot of beer with." That was what they used to say about a certain other executive....
