Get Your Test On

Software doesn't stand still, so if your testing tools and techniques don't advance along with the software you're building, you are headed for trouble. Every shift in the way software is built can potentially invalidate or simply lessen the usefulness of your current testing methods. Take AJAX functionality, for example. Sure, we've gotten pretty good at testing web apps, but the Javascript libraries that underlie much of the Web 2.0 world are in such a state of flux that it can be hard to find easy ways to test apps built from them. Luckily, smart people are tackling such problems. The SD Best Practices Conference and Expo, taking place September 11-14 in Boston, features a whole conference track on testing and QA, which will shed some light on testing in the face of rapidly advancing technology.
