OpenArchitectureWare Updated
The openArchitectureWare team released the new Version (4.2) of its openArchitectureWare (oAW), an open source framework. Implemented in Java, the framework supports all aspects of model-driven software development. As part of Eclipse, it supports parsing, validation, and transformation of all kinds of models. Based on these models, it can generate code for every programming language.
The new release offers a variety of new features and contains many bug fixes. One of the new features is a debugger for oAW's transformation languages, such as Xtend and Xpand. This offers generator developers an IDE support comparable to the Java Development Tools (JDT). Finding and eliminating bugs has now been greatly simplified. With regard to textual DSLs, the support has been notably improved. oAW's Xtext editors now support the most common JDT functions, i.e. cross references, code completion and a lot more.
With openArchitectureWare, any kind of model can be processed –- UML Models, Visio diagrams, EPKs, as well as any XML file. There are ready-to-use importers for numerous modelling tools already. oAW is commonly used to develop a variety of software products, such as mission-critical systems in insurance and banks as well as embedded systems. In addition to code generation oAW is often used to generate documentation or automatic tests for software components.
