Laser on Silicon
We've all become inured to unrealized promises of ubiquitous high-bandwidth data transfer. Well, here's something that might actually get us a bit closer, and might give Moore's Law a kick in the pants as well. They have demonstrated what they're calling the "first electrically pumped hybrid silicon laser."
