Who Needs a 64-bit Notebook?
Well, Intel is betting lots of folks do. I mean, sure, I'll want one. But not for any good reason. But Apple, Dell, Toshiba and Alienware are reportedly betting right alongside Intel that the new Core Duo chip for notebooks (formerly codenamed "Merom") will be a draw to customers who wish to leave desktop machines completely behind, but who want don't want to sacrifice performance. If the promises of "20 percent more performance" (whatever that means) on the same battery power as Yonah turn out to be true, I will certainly be intrigued. Now if only if I didn't have that pesky mortgage payment...
