"A 1-Gbit flash memory from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has been used as a buffer within a prototype rotating disk drive developed with Microsoft Corp...The two companies have been working together on the hybrid disk drive since late 2003 with a view to deployment in notebook computers and to support the the next version of the Windows operating system, code-named Longhorn."

Adobe to Buy Macromedia
Adobe Systems and Macromedia have announced a deal: Adobe will acquire Macromedia in exchange for $3.4 billion in stock. The buyout requires Federal regulatory approval as well as the assent of both companies' shareholders.

AMD Streamlines Chip Operations
"AMD said Wednesday that Spansion, its joint, flash memory operation with Fujitsu, would spin off into a publicly traded, independent company. AMD also said it is creating a 'single, customer-focused organization' within the company, called Microprocessor Solutions Sector, to oversee all of its chip business."
