HP Labs Innovation Research Awards
Academics receive grants for breakthrough collaborative research with HP
As part of the HP Labs Innovation Research Program, an open and competitive call for proposals designed to create opportunities -- at colleges, universities, and research institutes around the world -- for breakthrough collaborative research with HP, 59 professors were selected as recipients of the 2009 HP Labs Innovation Research Awards.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural program, this year HP Labs has increased the number of projects it is funding. In 2008, HP Labs awarded 45 projects at 35 institutions worldwide. This year, 60 projects from 46 universities in 12 countries will receive awards, including 31 projects that will receive a second year of funding.
Awards under the 2009 HP Labs Innovation Research Program are primarily intended to provide financial support for a graduate student to assist the Principal Investigator conducting a collaborative research project with HP Labs. Consequently, awards will provide cash support for one year in the range of $50,000 to $75,000, including any overhead.
