Survivor's Guide to 2007: Application InfrastructureMonday Morning Quarterback APPLICATION INFRASTRUCTURE Last year at this time, we said ESBs were going to be important in 2006 and indeed they were. Everyone's implementing one, but most enterprises are still struggling with how to manage them. We told you EAI-in-a-box was coming, and in 2006 the players in this space grew larger and continue to expand. Where only two strong vendors were playing last year there are now five, with more on the way. Nobody's perfect, though, as we proved with our prediction that EII would go the way of the dodo. It not only didn't disappear, it continued to evolve and grow into a competitor for Web 2.0 technologies such as mashups and EAI 2.0.
